Easter Break-The leaning towers and St Luca

The next day Tom took me to the leaning towers of Bologna...can Italian's not build straight towers? Is it impossible?

St. Luca's Church

There were 665 pillars to walk by before we reached the top of the hill and the church on top of it! A long, long walk!

Part of the church...I was more interested in lying on the grass and catching my breath than snapping photos!

Me trying to be as artistic as Tom with my camera! Check out Tom's blog at http://www.tominitalia.blogspot.com/

From what I remember, all the big families in Bologna used to have towers. it was a way of showing your power and influence in the city, and whoever had the biggest tower was the most powerful (Freud would have loved this place. Really.) As for the straightness, you may have noticed that Italians have a certain way of interpreting regulations like building codes. B.
