I began my epic in the north of Italy. After an agonising 24 hour flight from Sydney to Italy via Singapore and Frankfurt, I finally arrived in Venice.
A day later I was in Padua with Andrea's good friend Enrico. He had kindly risen early to kidnap Gianni to act as an English translator between us. Together we wandered the misty streets and saw the Valley of the Gardens, many many churches, the observatory of Galileo.
